Cinco de Mayo

So, I have everything ready to make some good Mexican food for Cinco de mayo.

We are having:
cheese quesadilla's
chicken & cheese quesadillas
refried beans
rice
corn.
And of course the celebration wouldn't be complete without some virgin daiquiris. We have kids in the house so it has to be kid friendly. 

Do you know why  Cinco de Mayo is celebrated? Up until today I thought it was to celebrate Mexico's independence but I was very wrong. It is actually to celebrate the victory of the french invasion of Mexico.  Mexico's independence day is September 16th. I feel like such a moron not really knowing what Cinco de Mayo was.
